MY TEACHING JOURNEY PART:-1
Embarking on My Teaching Journey at NSS Higher Secondary School, Kurathikad
Day 1: October 3, 2024
Our team, including Ms. Nivya, Ms. Soumya, Ms. Amrutha, and Mr. Nandagopan, reached the school before 9:30 AM. As the team leader, I led our visit to meet the Headmistress, Jyothilekshmi, who warmly welcomed us. I was given the responsibility of writing certificates for various events. The day was filled with engaging activities such as solo song competitions, poetry recitals, storytelling, and more. It was an amazing and refreshing start to our journey.
Day 2: October 4, 2024
The school Kalolsavam for higher secondary students was held in the auditorium, providing us with an excellent opportunity to introduce ourselves. Teachers shared inspiring stories, and I learned a valuable lesson: every student comes from a different background, each with their own story. As teachers, we may not always recognize or solve all their problems, but we must acknowledge our role as change-makers in their lives. This realization truly touched my heart.
Day 3: October 7, 2024
I officially began my teaching journey. My schedule included the 5th period with Class 9B, where I taught Physics on the topic of the force of gravity. In the 6th period, I taught Chemistry to Class 8A, covering the properties of metals.
Day 4: October 8, 2024
A sudden schedule change required me to take a Mathematics class for Class 7, as their teacher was on leave. Additionally, I conducted the 5th-period Physics lesson for Class 9A on gravitation.
Day 5: October 9, 2024
I had no scheduled periods, so I utilized the day to prepare and finalize upcoming lesson plans.
Day 6: October 10, 2024
I taught the 4th-period Physics class for Class 9A, continuing with the topic of the force of gravity.
Day 7: October 14, 2024
I was assigned as a PT instructor for the day. Additionally, I taught the 5th-period Physics lesson for Class 9B on the universal law of gravitation and conducted a Chemistry class for Class 8A on the physical properties of metals.
Day 8: October 15, 2024
I was scheduled to teach Class 9A; however, due to the National Achievement Test, I could not conduct the session. Instead, I volunteered to serve food to students, which was a fulfilling experience.
Day 9: October 16, 2024
I was assigned to the Sub-District Sports Meet at Mavelikkara, where I oversaw the long jump events for both sub-junior and junior boys and girls.
Day 10: October 17, 2024
I resumed my teaching responsibilities, conducting a Mathematics class for Class 7 on decimal methods. In the 4th period, I taught Physics to Class 9A, covering the universal law of gravitation, followed by the 5th-period Chemistry class for Class 8A, where we discussed metals' reactions with air and water.
These ten days have been an enriching experience, offering insights into both teaching and the students’ perspectives. It reinforced my belief that teaching is not just about delivering lessons but about shaping young minds and being a guide in their journey of growth. I look forward to more such learning experiences ahead!
